In the Design Automation Division (EAS) of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Integrated Circuits about 65 scientific employees have been working for more than 14 years in modeling, simulation, synthesis, test, verification, prototyping, and design of complex systems and integrated circuits. The main application areas are telecommunications (especially mixed-signal circuits and hardware/software systems), microelectronics (including heterogeneous system models), micro-systems (especially MEMS), and industrial automation. Circuit models, behaviour models, design methods, algorithms, model libraries, tool coupling software, and hardware/software co-simulation tools have been developed, e.g. in projects as JESSI AC12, AC8, and AC6, VIRTUS, EURIPIDES, LIMA, and LAB. The results have been embedded in industrial design flows.
